Growing up so fast...

Doesn't he look like a little boy?!? Only six months old, and already I can see exactly what he's going to look like when he's three, four, five and beyond. He's such a mellow, happy baby these days...although he still has quite the temper on him (he gets that from David...yea, right). More photos coming soon, I promise! But these should get you by in the meantime :)

8 Things Tag

Alright, Holly...this one's for you!! These are all in no particular order, and I changed one of the headings (I bet you spot it right away!)...

8 Favorite T.V. Shows:

1. Big Love
2. House
3. The Office
4. Desperate Housewives
5. Jericho (yep, me too!)
6. Grey's Anatomy
7. 7th Heaven (fine, make fun of me if you want...but that show was wholesome and adorable)
8. Jon & Kate Plus 8 (if they can do it, I can do it...)

8 Favorite Dishes:

1. Fresh seafood of almost any kind
2. Indian Food
3. Steak (but only good steak, and only medium rare)
4. Chicken Bryan from Carrabas (yum, yum, yum)
5. Anything with cheese...
6. Brownies, cookies, cakes, pies (these cannot and should not be separated)
7. Pizza
8. Mexican food (anything will do...burrito, taco, enchilada, chimichanga, all of the above)

8 things that happened Yesterday:

1. Got to take a shower while the baby was still asleep (SO much better than having to shower as quickly as possible while leaning halfway out the shower trying to listen for his cries)
2. Submitted our tax return to our H&R specialist ($80 is nothing for a little piece of mind!)
3. Had my daily moment of guilt when I dropped Samuel off at daycare
4. Work (if I told you what exactly, you probably wouldn't understand what I was talking about, and then you'd fall asleep...yesterday happened to be particularly and uncharacteristically mundane)
5. Had my daily moment of glee when I saw recognition and joy sweep across Samuel's face when I picked him up from daycare
6. Overcooked the asparagus
7. Watched re-runs of House with David (I LOVE DVR)
8. Packed lunch for today for me and David (we are really into this recession!)

8 things I look forward to:

1. My breakfast of oatmeal and Craisins every morning (I'm a creature of habit)
2. Mail (non-junk, non-bills)
3. Long weekends (three days is just so much more restorative than two)
4. Hearing my baby's first word, and getting to talk to him and learn who he really is
5. A new Big Love episode every Sunday night
6. Being done with graduate school
7. My next big vacation
8. Getting back into my pre-pregnancy clothes!!

8 things I love about living in Florida (and particularly St. Augustine):

1. Short sleeves in February
2. Christmas lights in palm trees
3. The smell, feel, sound, taste, feeling of the beach
4. Having to cross bridges everywhere I go, and being reminded constantly of my proximity to the water
5. The sound of horses' hooves on the cobblestone streets downtown
6. Watching my son grow up around my family
7. Working right across the street from the Oldest House in America, which just so happens to be the place David and I got married
8. Watching surfers ride their bikes to the beach one-handed, holding their boards in the other hand
9. The church bells that the Catholic church downtown rings every day at noon
10. Seeing David's face light up at the possibility of going to Disney World...AGAIN
11. Live oaks with Spanish moss
(alright, I'll stop...now I'm just being obnoxious!)

8 things on My Wish List:

1. Patience (same thing as with you and tact, Holly!)
2. Trips to Chile, India, Fiji, Croatia, New Zealand, Ireland (yes, again), and about a million other places
3. To be totally, completely, unequivocally out of debt (this includes car payments, money for our recently built fence, etc)
4. My graduate degree
5. My pre-pregnancy body (yes, that same body that I moaned about over and over again...oh what I wouldn't do to get that body back!)
6. Piggybacking on the last item -- a stretch mark cream that actually WORKS!
7. To be done decorating my house
8. For my son to grow up to be a strong, caring, compassionate, understanding, smart, handsome, funny, considerate, happy man (is that too much to wish for?!)

Here's To Love...

Happy Valentine's Day to all the friends and lovers out there!

Now, I'm not really a fan of Valentine's Day...I'm one of those horrible misers who think it is a stressful, invented holiday devised by card and chocolate companies to increase profit and make all single people feel like sad, lonely losers (you're not!). But I am a fan of love...of what it is, how it feels and what it can create (see photos in my last post for a perfect example). So in the spirit of love itself, I wanted to wish everyone a happy day...let it be a reminder to tell the people you love what they mean to you!

Personally, the day has been a smashing success so far. David and I decided to ratchet the stress and phoniness down a notch this year, agreeing to not exchange gifts, and to instead save the money for a special trip or celebration to honor our love on a day that we decided to, not when Hallmark told us to (alright, alright...I'm off my soapbox!).

But my always thoughtful, quietly romantic husband still found a way to surprise me. He let me sleep in (until 9:30 people...9:30!!), fed and dressed the baby, did the dishes, folded the laundry and made me breakfast. He got Sam down for his morning nap, and we ate on the couch in our pajamas, laughing and watching an old episode of "House." It was effortless and mellow and perfect. No amount of flowers or chocolates he could have purchased would have given me the same feeling...it was lovely.

So here's to love!

My Little Star...

Sorry everyone for being absent for so long...like I said, I'm tired! Things are going well...we're getting moved into the new house (slow and steady wins the race!), David is getting settled into his new job and I'm about waist deep in graduate school work.

We recently had Sam's first professional photo shoot...this kid was made to be in front of the camera! I seriously challenge you to find a more beautiful, sly, charismatic, spunky baby...here's a hint...STOP LOOKING! One doesn't exist :).

Anyway, some photos from the shoot are below...I promise to post again soon (oh glorious three-day weekend...you can't come soon enough)...
