Tonight, we carved pumpkins for the first time as a family! Sam did a lot of helping...and by "helping," I mean making a huge mess and eating a bunch of raw pumpkin. David did most everything while I shot these photos (hope you enjoy!). Pics of the final carved pumpkins will be up after my Halloween post.

...and didn't like very much.

Pumpkin Patch
Last weekend, we took Sam to a local pumpkin patch to pick out a couple of good ones to carve for Halloween. It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing, but luckily (for you!) we had our camera on hand.
This was his face upon first seeing the pumpkins...it must be so wonderful to get so excited about a tent full of pumpkins in a K-Mart parking lot!

Haircut
As promised, here are the photos from Sam's first haircut last weekend at Disney World. After reading about it online, we decided that it would be so perfect to have it done at the barbershop on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom (seriously, who knew that Disney World had a barbershop?!). We went first thing in the morning, to make sure he could be seen (and since that's the time he's in the best mood!).
A wonderful woman named Mary helped us, and you could tell that she had done this a time or two. As she sat him in the chair, she told us not to worry...that she'd "boy him up in a jiffy." She covered him in stickers, which kept him entertained and made him look down at his chest so that she could get to the hair on the back of his head. Since all we really needed was to have the crazy, long, wavy cowlicks above his ears shortened, the whole process only took a few minutes. Sam did great -- no crying!!
You can't really tell from the photos, but this haircut makes him look like a little man. Gone are the long, wispy locks of hair that hung over his ears. Now he looks like a clean-cut, grown up little boy. Every day he gets bigger and older and less babyish. Enjoy the photos below while I go cry a little ;)

This adorable hat is half the reason we drove all the way to Orlando to get his first haircut at Disney World...the back of the hat is embroidered with "My First Haircut."

Sam's First Trip to Disney World
So David's dream finally came true -- we took Sam on his first trip to Disney World!! The main focus of the trip was to have his hair cut at the Disney barbershop (photos of that are coming), but we also made trips to the Animal Kingdom, Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. Sam had an absolute blast -- looking at animals on the safari at Animal Kingdom, having lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, riding Pirates of the Caribbean and It's A Small World and The Haunted Mansion -- but David had at least as much fun showing him around! We're planning to go back in early December, once they've set up the Christmas decorations. I can see why adults get so excited to go back to Disney -- it really is so much fun to see your kid's face light up at the sights and sounds and experiences.
So here are some photos -- enjoy!!
Can't wait to get in!
